Kill Club Volleyball plays in tournaments offered by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), United States of America Volleyball (USAV) and the Junior Volleyball Association (JVA)
Kill Club teams are created according to skill and grade level. The number of teams in each grade division varies each year depending on the number of athletes. Movement between teams is sometimes possible. Athletes may only play up. In other words, a 6th grade athlete can play on the 7th grade team, but not vice versa or a 14 year old may play with 15 year olds, but not 13s.
The club is developmental. It was established to teach volleyball skills by incorporating correct technique and savvy court sense. Most athletes who pass through become well trained volleyball players able to move on to post high school teams.
Coaches for this club range from high school volleyball athletes to college players to Varsity coaches. The high school athletes are closely supervised by adult coaches. However, they are sometimes responsible for taking a team to a tournament on their own.
The athletes who are asked to coach are selected because of their advanced skill level, ability to lead, and their enthusiasm for the game. We are fortunate to have many girls in our high school program willing to take on a coaching role. They put their lives on hold during club season, arranging their work and social schedules around their coaching responsibilities.
We are also very fortunate to have college girls come back and coach teams. Some are playing in college and bring to the club new and exciting ideas about defense, offense, strategy, and lots of fun drills.
Other coaches are high school coaches as well as club coaches. These coaches have been or worked with colleges coaches and have a vast knowledge of advanced technique and coaching experience at a high level of play.
Parents are required to be very involved. They will be needed to help line judge, run the score clock, down referee, and keep the official scorebook. We hold clinics for parents and offer opportunities to practice the various skills during practices.
Parents are the cornerstones of all good teams.
